How are we all feeling? Are you still feeling a little bit magical from yesterday? I don't know about you, but I could certainly feel the electricity in the air. To quote a favorite movie of mine "It's all happening."
I'd like to talk a little bit about how I choose the card for the day. I go through my normal routine of shuffling and cutting the cards. Then, I flip over eight cards. The eighth card is the reading for the day. Then, I go back through the "kitty", the other seven cards I flipped, and see if there are any opposing or reinforcing cards for the day.
Today's card was the Knight of Cups. This card has been appearing in many of my readings lately. Cups are the suit of emotions and are associated with the element of fire. Knights are often described at the immature teenager of the suit. They are associated with two polarities and when the knight shows up, Spirit is asking us to try and find the balance between these two extremes. The Knight of Cups is the hopeless romantic, using imagination and creativity to tap into the depths of emotion. A gift for bringing out the beauty in all things, it's not difficult for the knight to get lost in his daydreams or feelings.
The Knight's energies could show up today in a situation you are involved in either through you, another person, or the atmosphere in general. Be aware and notice if the energy is helping or hurting you. Are you being understanding of others, or paying too much attention to your own problems? Can you appreciate the beauty of something while not shying away from its unpleasantness? Are you comfortable being alone with yourself without judging yourself?
The seventh card I flipped was the Page of Pentacles, which forms a pair with the knight. A page is considered the playful child of the suit. We are being asked to look at how we are balancing our childlike tendencies with the sullenness of a teenager. Try and notice if you have a tendency to make simple things complicated or obsess over a situation (knight) when maybe it's something we should just let go (page). "Turn that frown upside down" is something that comes to mind.
The Page is a messenger of opportunities for prosperity. A very uplifting and positive card, I feel that if we're able to master, or at least get a good handle on the Knight's energies today, it will be much easier to take advantage of what the page brings. I'm also feeling like the Page could indicate someone or something (a pet?) in your life that can offer you a reprieve if you're feeling overwhelmed by the energy of the knight today. If someone or something wants you to play - do it!
