I once interviewed a great company called Green Fire Energy. They were working then on a closed loop geothermal system. This means no fracking and directly working with super-heated and super-condensed CO2 gases deep below. There were no drawbacks as far as the environment is concerned. It produced enough electricity for a small neighborhood and was as big as 2 car garage.

I hope to see more clean renewable energy solutions that are sustainable in the near future. I'm sure working on that.

Thank you for making bringing attention to the subject of renewable geothermal energy. Ground source heat pumps can extract the heat from the earth to heat water. These heat pumps use a small amount of electricity but are essentially water heaters. I'd be interested to know how they apply a water source heat pump to a volcano.. I didn't realise the impact drilling can have on the atmosphere. Very informative post.
