Steve Beckow: Up in Smoke

Michael 56

In a recent Hour with an Angel pre-record with Archangel Michael on the angelic kingdom, AAM gave me a taste of the deconstruction of our belief systems that we may face in the upcoming months.

He disabused me of the notion that spiritual evolution is, as Rumi for instance says, (1) a straight line from mineral to plant, animal, human, angel and then back again to God.

And he disabused me of the notion that the angelic kingdom sees a being “rise” from angel to archangel through the intermediate realms to cherubim and seraphim. Instead he represented the latter as a circle.

We’re going to need to discuss the whole matter further in a future show before I feel comfortable thinking I can explain the new insights he’s making available.

But I realized that the position I was in is one we’re all going to be in perhaps from now on. There went thirty years of research up in smoke.

More and more of our ways of seeing things are going the way of the dodo.   And how are we going to weather that storm?

We began discussing yesterday (2) what my own preconceptions are on that (preconceptions that may not last through tomorrow).

Perhaps let me expand on what I said yesterday in hopes that it has a slightly longer shelf life or leads to at least the next stone we can use to step across the pond.

When we think of how we’re going to weather the fall of our cherished beliefs, some things arise as useful to keep in mind. The first one is that I don’t think it’s wise to become polar about our beliefs – either strongly accepting them or strongly rejecting them.

It isn’t that we’re to become negative towards anything we let go of. I think it’s more that we’re to become neutral. (3)

A synonym, as far as I can see, for “neutral” is “detached” or “complete with.” If we move from a position of strongly holding onto a belief to a position of passionately rejecting it, we may succeed in suppressing the belief.

But we won’t succeed, I think, in escaping a deeper and more serious condition that underpins duality or polarity itself. And that condition is moving between one extreme of emotion to another, losing the balance of our mind in the process.

Rather than being strongly for or against anything, I think we’re going to need to be neutral about anything thought, believed, suspected, or supposed to be true.

Detaching from that which no longer serves us doesn’t involve violent or passionate rejection (except perhaps for an entire way of being like the constructed self). But with simple beliefs, we let go of them more easily (I believe) if we remain neutral with or detach from them.

Speaking more generally, if we want to leave behind our attachment to Third Dimensionality itself, I think we need to be neutral towards it rather than violently opposed to it.

Of course, detachment is not something that can be faked. We’re either detached or we’re not. Fake it and we just add one more plank to our persona or identity. But I think it can be courted by our preferring and remaining in the center, in the middle.

The stance of neutrality leaves us in that center or middle. We know that the middle is the place that all the messages and teachings we’re receiving these days point to as the place to be.

For validation of it, we could go all the way back to the Buddha who taught the middle way of neither craving nor averting. Or we could listen to Lao Tzu extolling serenity and tranquillity. Same thing.

The middle can be considered the center. It can be considered our heart. When we’re in balance, we’re in the middle, in our hearts.  So another synonym for “neutral” could be “centered” or “balanced.”

I never miss a chance to repeat this: “balanced” in the spiritual sense does not mean equal weights in two counterbalanced scales; it means remaining in the center or the heart. When we remain in balance, in the center, in the heart, all strong passions, whether of acceptance or rejection, fall away. They can’t gain a foothold.

Attachments fall away from the person who remains in the center. Those folks are called equanimous, serene, tranquil.

So now let me repeat all these synonyms or related concepts: neutral, detached, complete, balanced, middle, center, heart, equanimous, serene, tranquil. All of these are pointing to the same ground of being which it’s not only important to explore during pre-Ascension times, but during all our lives forever after.

The center or the heart is the eternal rabbit hole; fall into the center. The center is the eternal black/white hole that leads us back to God. All your falling dreams? I expect they’re about not only a return to the center, but a return to the center of the center, the deepest center we can imagine and reach.

When we were fighting the cabal, it seemed advisable to be passionate and strong, courageous and outspoken. But now that we’ve freed ourselves from most of the darkness, the preferred skill set shifts, just as it shifts between wartime and peacetime (unless of course one has chosen the highroad of pacifism).

The preferred skill set now becomes neutrality, balance, and centeredness.  The preferred result becomes serenity, tranquility, and equanimity.

Now of course Archangel Michael could come along tomorrow and utterly demolish what I just said here, but if he does, I intend to remain neutral, balanced, and centered as I watch this new pet theory bite the dust as so many theories will in the times ahead.

I died as animal and I was man. … Yet once more I shall die as man, to soar With angels blest; but even from angelhood I must pass on: all except God doth perish. When I have sacrificed my angel soul, I shall become what no mind e’er conceived. Oh, let me not exist! For Non-existence Proclaims in organ tones, ‘To Him we shall return.’” (Rumi in Anne Fremantle and Christopher. In Love with Love. 100 of the Greatest Mystical Poems.
