The Curiosity mars rover could be the next target for the Anonymous group of hackers, it has been claimed.
The group shot to fame when it brought down numerous websites including Visa and several US Government sites as a protest against Wikileaks founder Julian Assange's arrest.
Now it appears they may have set their sights even higher.
The latest images from Curiosity show it on the surface of the red planet. It is now feared hackers could be planning to target the communication signals from the red planet and hijack the rover.
A New York security firm claims to have spotted a message on an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) asking for hep to hack into the signals Nasa uses to communicate with the Curiosity rover.
Flashpoint Partners spotted the following message by user "MarsCuriosity" on the AnonOps IRC channel on Thursday.
'MarsCuriosity: Anyone in Madrid, Spain or Canbarra who can help isolate the huge control signal used for the Mars Odyssey / Curiosity system please?

Debris: An area of Mars' surface that has been excavated by the blast of the Mars Science Laboratory's descent stage rocket engines
'The cypher and hopping is a standard mode, just need base frequency and recordings/feed of the huge signal going out. (yes we can spoof it both directions!)'
Flashpoint Partners included the message in an alert it sent out to its clients later that day.
The locations mentioned are used by Nasa to communicate with the rover.

Trap? A message requesting help to hijack the Mars rover was posted in a chat system frequented by members of the hacking collective Anonymous
AnonOps IRC is one of the Anonymous-related IRC channels that Flashpoint monitors.
However, online discussion groups have speculated the message could be a fake, or even an attempt by law enforcement agencies to trap hackers.

This group annonymous does alot to keep governments in line and they know it,lol...No, they dont take info and sell it abroad to our enemies or anything like that but they do spy on them and challange them on things we otherwise would have no idea of, also about a month ago they got inside of Irans comuter system and shut down some kinda weapons they have and when they tried to turn on the system they had an Ac/Dc song play instead,lmao!

Many people have the wroung impression of " hackers " hackers are suppose to be good and are suppose to bring foreword the Truth about anything forbidden that we should be aware with . If We all use what resources we have such as internet / youtube the truth will be set free. I just hope that before i die the truth will be set free .
