From The Weather Channel's new interactive radar map, 24-hour rainfall ending 2:30 p.m. PDT on Oct. 12, 2012. Record rainfall occurred in the Las Vegas Valley on Oct. 11.
Thursday's rainfall of 0.78 inches in Las Vegas was not only a record for the date, but also the fourth-wettest October calendar day on record for the city.
It's a familiar occurrence lately; exactly a month ago, the 1.18 inches of rain on Sept. 11 was the wettest September calendar day on record in Las Vegas.

Ask most women and they’ll tell you that a good dose of chocolate really takes the edge off. It’s not a joke. Science confirms that eating dark chocolate helps relieve emotional stress and also lowers blood pressure.
A study published in the Journal of Proteome Research found that consuming 40 grams (about 1.4 ounces) of dark chocolate daily for a period of two weeks reduced levels of the stress hormone cortisol and catecholamines, the fight-or-flight hormones.
The authors also concluded that their study “provides strong evidence that a daily consumption of 40 g of dark chocolate during a period of 2 weeks is sufficient to modify the metabolism of … healthy human subjects.”
Other studies had already suggested that chocolate relieved stress but this study provided evidence of the biochemical mechanism at work in relieving stress.

NEW ORLEANS — Federal scientists and BP say oil appears to have leaked last month from the drilling wreckage lying at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico near where a BP well blew out in 2010, causing the nation's worst offshore spill.

On Sunday, we will need to nourish ourselves and refresh our hopes, wishes, and dreams. It's the last day before the New Moon and the best time to clear out anything that remains unresolved from the past (especially the past month). The energy is about nourishing through simplicity and acts of kindness (especially kindness to ourselves).

GEOMAGNETIC STORM: A G1-class geomagnetic storm broke out during the early hours of Oct. 13th, igniting bright auroras over Canada. Colin Chatfield sends this picture from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan:
"This is from my backyard around 5:00a.m. this morning," says Chatfield. "Never have I seen the auroras so bright, especially from within the city. They were astounding, with purple visible to the naked eye."
The source of the storm was a knot of south-pointing magnetism from the sun. The knot drifted past Earth, bumping into our own planet's magnetic field. This caused a crack to open in Earth's magnetic defenses. Solar wind poured in to fuel the auroras.

The hippies had it right way back when and they are still awake and aware now, their minds opened wide by drugs made illegal to stem the flow of people from waking up. We old lion warriors must come forth again and put an end to the insanity. I think our need to wake others up and turn the tide was just our comfy excuse not to take action. We cannot wait any longer for the brain-dead to wake up, they are being silenced by whatever the dark ones have in their evil bag of tricks to keep them dumbed down.
