This has nothing to do with global warming, and everything to do with the shortsightedness of the people running the Newton Asphalt company, which kept dredging sand from places it shouldn't have. Plain greediness, stupidity and lack of forthought caused this sinkhole. You can take only so much blood from a vein, before it collapses.
