OMG! I so remember Ken Carey's book THE RETURN OF THE BIRD TRIBES. It wasn't the first one he wrote (I read them all) but it was the most powerful. The chapter of the Bufalo Calf Woman was what really caught my attention. She said that she would return when a white bufalo calf was born. I believe she has.
