Creating Peace and Harmony: How to Forgive Anyone For Anything (Including Yourself)

Forgiveness is a deep subject. It would be quite rare if there was anyone walking around that hasn't required this action. Nearly 20 years ago I quit drinking. I forgave myself for the experience. There was much adjustment to be made in my life. Friends were mostly just drinking buddies. That was kind of annoying. But, I understand and found forgiveness for the friends and myself for the misunderstanding I held. As time passed there were other little things which required my attention. Meetings for work at a bar for example. It wasn't as hard as I expected. The coffee was good. One of the last aspects of this transition was the recognition that my automatic actions as a drunk were mostly gone. I realized that I drove past 3 liquor stores on the way home without paying them any attention. All without thinking about it. This for me was an epic moment of achievement. Recognition was enough. I needed no further reward. This took 8 years to get to this point. The hard things in our life which require forgiveness starts with our willingness to ask. Then to have the will to continue even if you slip up. Paying attention to our actions and the reasons why we do them can take your self-awareness to higher levels each time we stop and correct our path.. We can also be quite sure that someone is watching what you do and how you respond. When you choose be become aware it assists others at the same time. We are all one. I have never to this day told anyone to stop drinking. I can only control what I do. Otherwise we interfere with the soul path of those we deem to be on a path to destruction. Compassionate disassociation may loose some friends but, this is sometimes required to grow into what you desire to become. Jokingly I have said once or twice that I need adult supervision. Please do not begrudge yourself of the honor. Nobody knows you better.
