Regarding 'chaos', it originally meant 'creation', 'void', and 'order that has not yet been perceived'.  Science has taught us that it means 'random' and 'confusion' but it was originally used in this context about a hundred years ago as an example of extreme satire.  It was meant humorously, but we adopted it in that context as something negative, to be avoided.  That is part of the anxiety and fear, the misunderstanding of 'chaos' ;)
