I just finished this 31" sculpture from recycled steel. The rays are from the steel of a horse trailer and the sun is a steel WOK that I found at a garage sale. I remembered the song from the mid 80's, " Walking on sunshine" and thought I would Pun with it. The eyes, nose and mouth are separate pieces of steel that are welded on. I started making these sun faces about five years ago to sell at the annual "Art in the Park" fair and a greenhouse called the "Flying Begonia." This type of sun has to be drawn out on paper, full size and each piece is traced, cut and welded on. I have another wok that I am preparing to create as a meditating sun. It is so nice to be creative again.
