God said:

Every single person on Earth, all people on Earth, have much to be grateful for if only they knew. Life is magic.

Life is as if you have gold and rubies on your neck and wrists, and you are thinking they are mere baubles made of plastic, and so you don’t know what you have, and you don’t yet value what is yours entwined within this illusive quality called life.

What a great thing to come into the Sun. What a great thing to long for the Sun. What a great thing to be under the Sun.

What a great thing to walk on Earth. And, oh, yes, the senses. They alert you, and they melt you. To think of the greatness of life - to be able to hear a loved one’s voice and to look into a loved one’s eyes. What a great gift to be able to touch and be touched. And to taste a peach and to smell a flower. Delicious are the senses. The senses aren’t everything, and, yet, they are incredible. Who could have dreamed of the whole concept of flowers let alone have flowers push their way up through the earth?

Tell Me, what is not amazing on Earth? That from an acorn a tree grows, that from a flower a scent comes, that sprouts grow, and water is wet? Aren’t these amazing miracles right before you?

And how your body moves. How the heart and mind direct you this way or that. To think of impulses and ideas. What Children of Riches be you.

And where do your impulses come from, and where are you going even when you may think you are not going anywhere?

God said:

All experiences are good, yet don’t make too much of experiences. This includes experiences that you find wonderful and also experiences you find heartrending and traumatic. Too much is not to be made of anything at all in the relative world. An experience that seems big today may simmer down to nothing the next day.

In any case, experiences recede, and you experience something else. Even routine experiences are experiences. Riding the bus. Opening or closing a door. Standing on tiptoe to reach to the top of the fridge.

Whether an experience is flunking a test in school or near death or a birthday party, you don’t want to make too much of it. Regardless of the nature of your experience, it is only an experience. You can love it or not love it.

We can perhaps say that experience is a hall you go down. You don’t stay there. A hall can be as beautiful as a church, or it can be crumbling, yet a hall is only a hall. It serves a function in the world. A hall you go down may well be momentous to you, yet, regardless, it is only a passage.

A passage can go east and west or it can go north and south. It can go up hill or downhill. It can make you laugh or make you cry. Ultimately, there is no difference. It all comes out in the wash.

Life in the world is not even a dot in Infinity. Not really a blip either because Infinity is Eternal. We can say that dots and blips and time and space are outside of Infinity. We can say that anything outside of Infinity does not exist. I do say this.

God said:

This is what you ask Me today from the rugged path of your heart:

“Beloved God, am I writing this to you? Who writes to You then? I am not certain that it is I who writes this to You, God. God, just as sometimes I do not seem to be able to locate You, nor do I seem to be able to know who or where I am. I know I sit here in this fictional place. I know I sit in this chair, and my feet press Earth, and my fingers move on the keyboard as though I were playing the piano. Are these my words, or are they Your Words given to me as a book to read?

“Right now I feel that I am not the personage who sits here and feels as if these thoughts purported to be mine really are coming from somewhere unidentified. 

“I feel extended beyond this room and even this town and beyond all Creation. Some of Your Vastness has entered me. For a few moments I am boundless. I am a human being sitting here, and yet I am greater than this vague human being who sits here encompassed in this body and yet, at the same time, not encompassed in this body. What am I doing seemingly encompassed in this body, God?

“Who sits here? You can’t be typing these words, yet it doesn’t seem that I am typing away either. Are these my thoughts? Am I speaking, or is it You, God? Am I a funnel through which You express Yourself?

“Are You speaking on my behalf? Are You describing what I feel and the questions I feel as I search for myself? Do I exist at all, God?

God said:

Is this your voice I hear? Is it you who calls out to Me as from the wilderness? Whose crying is it I hear who says in many ways:

“Beloved beloved God, the One God, the Only God, God of my Heart, You Whom I cannot Grasp, yet You Who, nevertheless, are My Touchstone to Heaven and to Earth, You Who are the Subtlest of the Subtlest weigh nothing, yet hold up the Universe, to say nothing of Your having created the Universe and me and all the other Assorted Beings who are here on Earth and all those who ever have been and all those who are yet to be.

“You, the Creator of Everything, are not created. You, the Designer of All, are not designed. You are the Spontaneous of the Spontaneous. You are a Vesuvius who erupted into the beauty of all the fluctuations of vibrations on Earth, yet You do not fluctuate. You Who have no body to separate You from anyone else are the Epitome of Life. If we on Earth in our awesome bodies were without our bodies, we would meld with You and be the Essence of You, is this true?

“You say that those of us on Earth and perhaps other places are You, are exactly You beneath our costumes and our eccentricities. You say that we, those of us bumbling on Earth, are nothing but You except we hold onto all the physical evidence that says we passed this way. Some folklore says we are here once, that’s all, and other folklore says we recur again and again always to be Bright Light on Earth as Stars Are in Heaven.

God said:

Beloveds, I am Omniscient and All Powerful, and, yet in the world, it is not always in your and the world’s best interest for Me to wave a wand. Does that sound like a pat excuse to you? Take Me at My Word, beloveds. I desire your happiness, and I desire you to grow. Life is not always a quick and easy. It is a long view I take. This is life. And through living, you come closer to My Will. According to your consciousness, you live life.

If you go to a betting establishment and play roulette, you don’t know the winning number ahead of time. Wheels are already in motion, yet you don’t know ahead of time. What you can know is trust in Me, even when trust seems bleak or even impossible. One way to look at this is that all you have to your name is trust. You do not yet have a decision to make. You are not conceding anything, dear ones. Success in the world is clearly not always a benchmark of how well you are doing.

The Great Spiritual Ones were more simple than you may be. You see green lights and red lights. And yet you may be looking in the wrong places. Sometimes life does not give you a choice based on your vision, yet you have consciousness. The Truth of you is not your wondering and worrying. This is nothing but a habit. You are accustomed to chewing your nails.

God said:

I hear you ask Me respectfully:

“Dear God, how am I to learn Self-Reliance and, at the same time, depend upon You?

“I understand You are the Doer, yet, as I understand Your Will, we, Your children, are not to sit around doing nothing but waiting for You. Your Will is that we take responsibility for our lives, and sometimes You come to our rescue.

"This isn’t a trade, that we serve You, and You serve us, even as we ask You for Divine Intervention. We even beg, and there are times that it seems that You do not accord us our Will. It is for Your children to serve You, and yet, and yet, You also serve.

“I do not know how to represent myself and serve You. I know You want me to do well, and I want to do well. How do I represent my Will and serve You? I would like to always serve You, God. 

“You have told us not to be petitioners, and that Your Will and my Will are One. Of course, I don’t quite believe that Your Will and my Will are at loggerheads. I know You want the Good Will of all Your children to be fulfilled. Our human Wills are not always self-serving, and it seems that we have a Will that sometimes is clear. We have some kind of Will in our DNA that seeks its fulfillment.

God said:

Yes, I understand. You want to bow to My Will. You want your life to always be My Will, and, yet, it is like you find yourself hovering over Me. You come to see that you even have to let go of Me. This letting go, if only it were so simple to let life happen as it happens and you truly be neutral about it, for you are not neutral, and you do not want to pretend that you are.

It is confusing. You have will. In fact, you have to have will. It’s not for you to be passive in life. You care. You do care. You certainly are not indifferent. You are involved in your life. In order to live life, you participate in it. At the same time that you understand the power of letting go of control, you find yourself avid for life to follow your will amicably.

You do not know how to be lackadaisical about life. You care about life, yours and others’ lives. You do want to do good in the world, and you do not wish to usurp My Will. You know you can’t just sit around in life. You do have to arise to the occasion. You understand that you have accountability for the direction of your life. You cannot be hapless about your life. You are greater than a chess piece.

How can you take hold of your life at the same time as you let it go? How do you assert without taking control? Perhaps you only imagine control. Perhaps control is an illusion, just as much as no say about your life is also an illusion. If all is illusion, what matters anyway?

Are you to follow or are you to take initiative? If both, then how do you know when?

God said:

There is a big question that you may face, and it is:

“How do I know when I am coming from God’s Will or when I am coming from my own ego? How can I know with certainty which is which?”

You don’t want ego to be your guide, and, yet, you may feel you are in a quandary.

Ego is a stretch, beloveds. Ego tends to pull you across a chasm, and you feel weak rather than strong. On the other hand, you can be totally following My Will and not feel strong the way you would think you would. Doubt grabs ahold of you. Perhaps doubt is what ego is based on.

You are firm in your desire to follow your heart of Mine, yet the right direction to follow is not always clear to you. Sometimes you hold on by a thread.

Sometimes you can be doing just right, and feel uncertain. How you crave a green light to flash or a bell to ring to wave you ahead, or clearly a red light or a buzzer to tell you to desist. If only you could know with certainty when you are on what could be called the right course.

Life in the world isn’t always so clear. You receive mixed signals. You thought it would be easy following Me, and now you find that following Me can be uphill. You hadn’t bargained on this.

God said:

When you hang on to lingering unhappiness and don’t want it one minute longer, here’s what you can do.

You can be content right now. When you’re happy, you feel light of heart. When you feel unhappy, you feel heavy of heart. It may seem to you that you are helpless and subject to the winds, yet you are the conductor of your orchestra. Orchestrate what you want. Get away from what you don’t want. Look toward what you seek, not away from it. Complain no more.

No more whining about poor you. Equate yourself with joy, and be joy. Complaints are not to be on your agenda. You are despondent when you say you are. Give yourself freedom from unhappiness. I delight in you, and I exhort you to delight in life. What makes you blasé or even caustic?

If you truly desire joy in life, then let go of past association with lack. Talk about unhappiness and unsettledness, and you will have them. Cultivate association with lightness of heart, and you will have it.

You can be whatever you want to be. When you find yourself in the grips of unhappiness and cannot seem to jump out of that mode or mood, change the direction of your thoughts.

God said:

Beloveds, I have heard you say to Me:

“God, sometimes I feel that I am not connecting with You. Then I sit down with You personally, and the power of You enters my heart, and all the tawdry world no longer exists. It is as if You so gently, instantly and all powerfully, touch my heart and calm it. There is something where the Essence of You sweeps everything else aside, and I feel a tight connection with You, as if, truly, You are my Very Self.

“At these times, my pulse throbs: ‘God is here. My God is here. God and I are really One. There is no parting between Us. We are seamless.’

“God, You become my own Knowingness. It is like everything else that preoccupies me gets out of the way. What is left then? What can be left but You, God, exhilarating my heart, coursing through me - only You and nothing but You. You are not Nothing. You are Something, and You are deep within me. You are tenured within me. You are the Very Beat of My Heart. You are embedded in Me. For a few moments, nothing but You exists. I forget myself.

“You save me from my dependency on the outer world which, sooner or later, seems to let me down. You, God, You raise me up. You hold me on top of the world. You overshadow the clouds of the world. You lift me to Holy Heaven, and, for a few moments, I am here complete with You. Nothing is missing or can be missing, for Our hearts exchange love, and that’s all there is. Your love is safe within me. You fill my heart, and I am full of You.
