I enjoy writing reports about enlightenment, but some of the advice we’ve been given by spiritual teachers from the past isn’t quite relevant to the present.
Depending on which teacher you listen to, the veil was much thicker when they shared their teachings with the world. We’re capable of achieving a lot more in terms of consciousness exploration than when a lot of spiritual teachers were in their prime, and this is a liberating thing to realize.
The veil’s a lot thinner than it used to be, and all it takes is a small meditation to realize that we can glimpse a higher state of consciousness pretty easily.
Exploring our consciousness gets easier with every year that passes, and all we need to do is show a little effort to glimpse things that might’ve been unheard of in some spiritual teachers’ heyday.

You are responsible for creating the daily experiences and continuous occurrences of your life. Your perception is the mirror that reflects back to you what is on your mind or in your mind. You influence the happenings of your day from the vantage point of how you see yourself. Do you see yourself as an undervalued servant or an empowered warrior? Do you see yourself as a shamed silent child or is your perspective of yourself the honest and creative person that freely expresses what’s in your heart? What is your point of view?
Your outlook significantly influences where you concentrate your attention and positions your attitude for each moment. When you awaken and begin a new day, be aware of how you perceive yourself since your perception will be the foundation of the thoughts you generate to create the people you will draw into your life, the situations you will participate in and the circumstances you share with your family, business associates, friends and most importantly yourself.

Waking Times
Whether you want reduce your environmental impact or ditch city life, many of us dream of dropping off the grid and living off the land. Not many of can actually cut the cord, but on the small island of Lasqueti, about 400 residents are living out that dream.
The island lies about 50 miles northwest of Vancouver in the Strait of Georgia. To reach the remote locale, one can take a passenger-only ferry that comes two or three times a day, weather permitting of course.
At 12 miles long and 3 miles wide, Lasqueti’s about the same size and shape as Manhattan, but that’s about the only thing the islands have in common.

Waking Times
When we take note of the ‘feel’ something or someone has, we’re not talking about physical touch or emotion, we’re talking about inner feeling. Essence, state of being, resonance, energy, vibration… these are workable words for it too.
A consistent, long-term inner feeling might show up in the body or facial expression, it’ll be evident in those people and situations we draw toward ourselves, it will be complimented in a soul mate, it will be anchored anew with every significant change we make, and it is changeable moment to moment as well.
The relationship between a person’s ‘feel’ and their thoughts and emotions is quite intimate. We know that keeping our emotions in check and our thoughts positive is a means of raising our energy. Of course we want to raise our energy, and live naturally in a lighter or more refined state of being.

When I was little, my grandma had this little green Buddha statue.
It wasn’t a statue of the original Buddha, but rather a statue of what’s generally considered Maitreya, the “future” Buddha, usually represented as a hefty man sitting with his robe partly opened and often with beads around his neck. This particular statue was a pretty common image, one where his belly protruded out to reveal his belly button.
My grandma would always tell me, “Rub his tummy and you’ll have good luck!” So naturally, as a kid, I rubbed his tummy every chance I got. I was supposed to rub his bellybutton specifically, as I remember trying to lay my finger on his tiny belly button and rub in a circle, despite the fact that the belly button was a fraction of a millimeter in diameter.
It is so important that you make decisions based on what feels right for you. So many of you have been conditioned to make your choices based on the hope of pleasing others, or avoiding judgement. If you are unsure of how to proceed, ask yourself, “If I didn’t know one other person on this planet, what would my decision be?” Whatever that answer is will be the truth of what your being truly wishes to experience. ~Archangel Gabriel
The matter of free thinking is important for us to understand because it allows us to become more aware of our personal authentic perspectives and to see how we may have taken on some opinions that were not ours to begin with.
What does it mean to think for yourself?
The first thing that comes to mind is how one forms their opinions and thoughts. How much of your authentic vision of the world was formed by personal experience compared to established thought and opinion formed by what the majority has come to agree on.
We all have thoughts/perspective/opinions that have been formed from imitating or agreeing with others in order to fit in or feel ‘apart of’ the whole; the point is how we use that perspective to grow.
