well, maybe we could think
well, maybe we could think about this a little more.
I feel like the ego is essentially part of you during this lifetime. We live in a world where egos play a major part in humanity. Maybe instead of getting rid of the ego completely, we could try and balance the ego? At least until we are able to go into the problems and old experiences that make up the ego; once we work through these old emotions the ego will natrually dissolve on its own. We cant force a part of ourselves away. We have to get into it, get down and dirty well we clean up the old buildup. Only then will it dissolve.
What I say here to you now,
What I say here to you now, is not because I'm a fully evolved being and know what I am saying via experience, but because I am a work-in-progress with some experience, but enough to recognize what you're saying for what it is: Bargaining.
The Kubler-Ross Five Stages of Grief - 1. Denial 2. Anger 3. Bargaining 4. Depression 5. Acceptance
You're correct when you say: ''We live in a world where egos play a major part in humanity.''
However, that world is evolving to a higher dimension now. The ego is a psychic construct designed for the 3rd dimension. The ego can't exist in the higher dimensions beyond the 3rd dimension. If the ego is kept intact in an attempt to slowly ease it away from us, then we may only do so while remaining in the 3rd dimension. You can't evolve to a higher dimension if you remain in the 3rd dimension. But that is our choice. All of us have that choice.
You are also correct when you say: ''We can't force a part of ourselves away.''
That is why it is necessary to let the ego -- go. Forcing or pushing one's ego away is the same thing as struggling with it. To struggle is to fight. And fighting builds and sustains the ego. You can't force it away, you must let it go, as when you stop pedaling a bike. After the momentum you've built up is gone, it falls of its own accord. The choice is -- no choice.
This is what I'm learning now, how to let go. Good luck to you in your journey as well.

I have been trying to let go
I have been trying to let go all year, and I have to say, it is tearing my family apart. I have stopped working, paying bills, taxes, insurance, etc. I have made many poor choices in this life, and finally one day I just stopped choosing. I have many assets to lose. Is it wrong to my family to let this all go?
Any choice we make is only a
Any choice we make is only a ''poor'' one if we learn nothing from the experience. And this is not always easy to understand while in the thick of it and being viewed from the inside where the action is.
And letting go isn't easy either. We've spent all our lives learning things that will become of little use to us very soon. Most of it is FEAR-based. Or better put: ILLUSION-based. Much of what we know and do is ingrained in us and changing these behaviors can seem to be a lot of work. Which is why one must simply let go. That too must be learned, I s'pose.
The one thing I'm certain we all must do, is to be honest and open with ourselves first. And then to be honest and open with others. That is all we can do.
And MEDITATE. Stay in contact with our higher selves. Ask your higher self for help. It has always been there for you. I realize that these things are not as easily done as it is in saying them.
Here is a passage from The Seth Material by Jane Roberts that I first read back in 1976 (I'm old school), and I hope it is of some insight:
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF EXISTENCE?
''The human race is a stage though which various forms of consciousness travel. Before you can be allowed into systems of reality that are more extensive and open, you must first learn to handle energy; and see, through physical materialization, the concrete result of thought and emotion.''
''In more advanced systems, thoughts and emotions are automatically and immediately translated into action... Therefore, the lessons must be taught and learned well. The responsibility for creation must be clearly understood.''
And remember to follow your heart.

Going through old boxes
Going through old boxes full of nasty papers and tearing them up helps me a lot. I see how things were before, and I see the difference, and then I actually get to throw those things away and they are gone.

Very deep! Isn't it
Very deep! Isn't it interesting, that all of this is coming up right now. I just had a conversation with someone about this. This article reminded me of a story about a little stone or something, holding on for dear life to the shore, instead of letting itself be gently guided down the brook by the water, which then leads to the river and the ocean, back home. And coincidentally, just as I am writing this, my mate tells me, that Richard Bach was in a plane crash. He is in a serious, to guarded condition, and improving, in a hospital, I believe in Seattle, Washington. How ironic! Please, let's everyone send him love and light, so the highest good can manifest in his life!
forbidden fruit
Could "ego" be the forbiddon fruit of the bible? The tree of knowledge of good and evil? Before Adam and Eve just lived. Just enjoyed paridise. Did not question or want. Did not judge.
