Bolivia gives legal rights to Mother Earth
Hurray! I want to hug Bolivia! Finally, someone had the guts to take a national stand for this planet. It's about time! God/Goddess bless Bolivia, so these laws can be enacted without interference and for the highest good of all. We are seeing changes now on a global scale. People are waking up, and the indiginous population has a big role to play. (May that's why the Canadians are trying to get rid of them!) I'm curious to see which country has the awareness and the guts to follow suit. Takers anyone?

legal rights to Mother Earth
I want to move to Bolivia....wow great news wish the whole planet would follow.......Mother Earth is already in charge, she decides what she wants to do, it would be very arrogant of my part to believe that I can change anything, she knows what to do and when to do it.....but to have a country realizing that, is a great step towards the awakening of the planet..one baby step at a time..aho and migwetch Bolivia...we say thanks and we love you!
There are now three
This is great news indeed. I am a permanent resident of Ecuador. During the 2008 elections when our current President, Rafael Correa, was elected, a new Constitution was put in place. This Constitution, among other very important changes, grants rights to nature. It is my understanding that the Chilean constution (or law) does the same. This means there are three countries with enlightened attitudes towards Mother Earth. I truly hope we will see many more.

Gratitude, for sharing that! It is good to find out that other countries have similar laws. Do these laws see the actual planet as a sovereign entity, meaning as a living, intelligent structure, or merily what is upon her, (meaning what she supports)? This planet would do just fine without anything, other than the mineral kingdom, upon her. Also, are the indiginous populations included in these laws? Curious to know.

The wording of the Ecuadorian constitutional rights for nature can be found here (in English). Notice the reference to Pachamama, which is a strong theme within the Ecuadorian culture;

I looked for reference to Chilean law; I heard a while ago - in casual conversation - that they passed a law similiar to Ecuador's. However, I was unable to find any reference to this. Please accept my apologies. I might have mispoke regarding Chilean efforts.
