If I needed an ally in a major conflagration, you would definitely be my last choice.
This was all but impossible to pull off if it were a hoax
Being in the broadcast industry myself as an engineer, I can assure you that to hijack 5 neighboring television stations, tune each transmitter to the target frequency (not doable at all) and have them in absolute sync in order to replace (override) the target broadcast is way beyond conception. The reason is simple. Television sound is FM (frequency modulation) and the frequency is set permanently with a crystal in a temperature controlled chamber called a crystal oven. All the power circuitry is also tuned to match the assigned frequency as well as the antenna itself. If the station were to be re tuned to a new frequency it would take hours, even days to do so. Also, none of the other television stations were brought down from their normal broadcast programming at the time of the message. So no, it couldn't have been done by a bunch of high school pranksters.
The message content itself resonates with a higher consciousness/intelligence, especially from an aspect of the period circa 1977.
