Many schools of Reiki and thoughts about Reiki have come into being since I began my life with Usui Reiki.

Permit me to share my experience.

My Reiki life began in 1986 in New York City with my initiating master Michael J. Hartley.

I had never heard of Reiki back then, but the very word ‘Reiki’ caught my attention and I went to a gathering to find out more about this hands-on healing process.

I was impressed but had no financial capability to take the first level and even though Michael offered to make payment arrangements, I was walking out of the meeting and I was stopped in my tracks and found myself walking back and said let me work this out and I want to learn this healing art.

The process was set in motion and I now am 26 years into this powerful healing method.

Reiki has brought incredible paths that opened up to me beyond the actual practice of ‘hands on’ work.

As a practitioner or initiating master one is bringing in the Universal Life Force Energy or Reiki and that energy brings about balance in the recipient as well as the channel. Reiki brings about spiritual growth and presents new paths and persons in our life that expand us.

Consciousness is where I believe healing takes place and Reiki truly uplifts ‘consciousness’ to the spiritual planes and then assists to unfold and present experiences/teachers/paths that continues this spiritual process.

My Reiki process for the next few years involved projects of offering Reiki to PWA's (People with AIDS)

My payment back for First Level Reiki was to be offering Reiki to the New York PWA,s.

The process offered incredible training by doing. I found myself going into hospitals, going to healing groups, forming healing groups.

My second level of Reiki was in 1987, again with Michael in New York and then I was presented with a two month project in Santa Fe NM. Michael and Phyllis Lei Furumoto, the Grand Master of Usui Reiki, created a project that I and another practitioner Keina Allen went to live and run the project.

We had a group of recipients challenged with AIDS that we treated twice daily and we were on call 24/7.

I knew I was going to be attuned a master but the time of master attunement has its own way of showing itself.

I did ‘self-assessment’ workshops with Phyllis while in Santa Fe and the year was the ‘Harmonic Convergence’ and I was being prepared for my master initiation.

The Reiki Alliance at that time followed a psychological approach that to be attuned a master one had to be prepared and open to the master level energy. The ‘self-assessment programs’ were geared at clearing of issues and I now follow that process and any master I initiate spends months working with me before I attune them.

In 1990, June 21, I was initiated a Master of the Usui System of Reiki at Red Mountain Center in British Columba, Canada by Michael J. Hartley.

I am four masters removed from Dr. Usui the originator of the system.

The Reiki lineage is important in that it is important to keep the energy strong/clear as to the attunements.

This is simply an overview of my timeline and understanding of the Usui System of Healing.

My experience continues with Reiki and my Spiritual Counseling and Psychic readings.
