When people make the choice to pursue a life path of personal development and spirituality, they encounter certain universal lessons that seem to arise as archetypes.  If you are on a path of higher consciousness, there is a good chance you have experienced these realizations already.  What’s great about lessons learned on a spiritual path is that these same lessons were learned by people 1000, 5000, and 10,000 years ago.

1) Other people are a reflection of you

The outer world mirrors your inner world.  And no, this is not just some cute cliche that I’m putting in this list because it gets thrown around a lot.  Walk into a store in a frustrated mind-identified state of consciousness.  Walk into that same store after meditating for 5 minutes.  Now, walk into that same store after meditating for 30 minutes out in nature.

We’re approaching Mother’s Day – another commercial holiday in the U.S. about which we can have mixed feelings. The marketing encourages everyone to give attention to their mom, and talk to her, spend money on her, or if she has left this physical plane, to think of her and miss her.

Mothers definitely don’t mind having a day when they can enjoy some attention, so it’s pretty much a given that a lot of flowers and greeting cards will be sold. That’s the way it works, and I’m no different. I like the attention, love flowers and dinner out, and I miss my Mom… can’t think of her voice calling my name without the eyes getting wet.

Although there have been many, many aspects to the Shift in Consciousness the last 25-30 years, one of the biggest, game-changing and critical Evolutionary Big-Switches that has occurred (and continues) is that of people getting up off their knees, en masse, all over the world, and actively busting the dominator / victim, conqueror / conquered, rich / poor dynamic that has been dominant for thousands of years.

These significant years will be but a chapter in the history books to be written some day, but for us they represent an exhilarating moment in the evolutionary trajectory from controlled human being to liberated, limitless human being.

An amazing thing happens when you intend to navigate your day to be of the highest service to all, and surrender to that flow. Not only will you be aligned with ways to be of pure, simple service, you will also find that you set the energy everywhere you go, rather than be affected by it. If you end your day and it seems like not much happened, you can rest assured that your energy was more than enough, and was exactly where it was most needed. The Celtic festival of Beltaine, on the First of May, opens wide the gates of summer in the northern hemisphere. This is the time to surrender to the irresistible rising of the life-force under the warmth and light of the growing sun. There is a promise of love and a reminder of the constant greening and renewal of life.

Beltaine and the Ancient Celts

The lives of the ancestral Celtic people were naturally attuned to these cycles as to the rhythm of a spiral dance. They celebrated with dance and song and rituals designed to promote a joyful communion both with each other and with the world of Nature. In Scotland and Ireland, fires were kindled on top of sacred hills. Fire is an earthly reflection of the Sun, once seen as the great Source of all life. When the Druids gathered the wood of nine sacred trees and raised the Beltaine fires on hilltops throughout the British Isles on May Eve, they were performing a real act of sympathetic magic, for the fires were designed to bring the sun’s light down to earth. When the wood burst into flames, it proclaimed the triumph of the light over the dark half of the year. In Scotland, every fire in the household was extinguished, a brief time of darkness followed, and then all the villagers climbed the hill to rekindle their flame from the new source with great rejoicing.
