The Winds and the Wa’akaulua…

If you’ve not heard of a Wa’akaulua, well here is one that appeared out in Kailua Bay today. The double hull sail craft is a traditional Polynesian vessel. Here’s a bit more information at this site. http://waakaulua.com

So what’s all this got to do with anything? As of 837 AM, I don’t know. The message is still coming in.

Part of it has to do with relaxing with the wind. And not struggling with it. Rather allowing it to move you where you need to go. But we’re not victims of the wind in this Wa’akaulua. We have control over the rudder and the sail so we can always flow with the wind, in partnership with it, to go where we wish to go.

Scientists at Washington State University are now confirming once again what natural health experts have known for years — garlic fights one of the most common food-borne illnesses much more effectively than antibiotics. Garlic has built a strong reputation in fighting infections, a benefit that is but one of many.

Campylobacter bacterium, the name for the common bacteria that often results in intestinal illness, affects around 2.4 million Americans per year and is often treated with illness-linked antibiotics, but maybe not anymore.

Australian Aboriginal Spirituality – Interview With A Senior Aboriginal

By Lynda Flower – Spiritual Space Magazine

Michael Williams gives an insight into the depth and richness of Aboriginal spirituality, estimated by some researchers to span 125,000 years. Aboriginal spirituality is based on an ancient cultural belief that life is a vast web of inter-connected relationships. Everything has meaning and purpose and everything is connected – the land, the people, the ancestors and the animals. The past is viewed as being inextricably linked to the present and throughout time the over riding spiritual value has been respect for Aboriginal cultural law.

What do you consider to be the most important aspects of Aboriginal spirituality?
Following your Law.  Don’t break Law.  Respecting all things, animate and inanimate in the entire natural world.

How do Aboriginal perceptions of spirituality differ from western interpretations?
A profound connectedness to land.  Living on your land is essential to maintaining the strongest possible links with land and ensuring proper practice of Aboriginal spiritual life.

Chocolate: Candy or Cutting-Edge Medicine?

By Sayer Ji

Chocolate is clearly one of the most enjoyed foods on the planet, and has one of the oldest documented histories of use going back to 1100 BC. And yet many still harbor guilt about consuming it because they associate it with “candy” and have never been exposed to the research indicating it may actually be closer to a “medicine.”

Now, new research from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has revealed that the consumption of chocolate, or its active constituents (cocoa, flavan-3-ols), reduces a broad range of risk factors for cardiovascular disease including insulin resistance. The researchers looked at 42 acute and long-term studies and found a 33% median reduction in insulin resistance following chocolate consumption.

What is so unique about this new study is that chocolate consumption is generally believed to elevate blood sugar and blood insulin levels; not only does it disprove this myth but it sheds additional light on why chocolate consumption (especially dark, organic) may be beneficial in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Celebrating Surrender From Ego

The biggest and the most destructive “disease” of today’s mankind is AN INFLATED EGO. From politicians to celebrities to spiritual gurus all are the victims of this “disease” and to the extent that they refuse to acknowledge that they suffer from it.

It is poisonous to society, nations, continents and the globe. A person with an inflated ego is like a drunken elephant on a rampage through a forest where the forest is burning behind him. He runs without any direction to seek refuge and fails in all directions to find one. During his effort to do so, he not only ruins his own life but also the lives of other elephants, other animals of the jungle, trees, shrubs and birds. A true seeker of truth and follower of a spiritual path does not succumb to this disease because he is aware that this is the path to his destruction. He is aware that the path to freedom is surrender and Letting Go.
