Korean Artist Beautifully Illustrates What Real Love Looks Like

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Wed, 09/09/2015 - 08:59

We’re all so used to the grandiose tales of love in the movies — running through a crowded airport, sending love letters every single day for ten years, leaving one’s entire life behind — that anything less than trial by combat just seems lazy.

But Korean artist “Puuung” is intent on changing that narrative. “Love is something that everybody can relate to. And Love comes in ways that we can easily overlook in our daily lives. So, I try to find the meaning of love in our daily lives and make it into artwork,” she writes.

With her beautifully-drawn illustrations, Puuung reminds us that when it comes to love, it’s the little things that matter.

Puuung’s works can be found on her grafolio, but here are some of our favorites:

15 Reasons to Give Your Love Away, Today

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Wed, 09/09/2015 - 08:55

By Jack Adam Weber
Contributing Writer for Wake Up World

There’s a beautiful story behind this article, one that involves the publishers who bring it to you. It was, in fact, inspired by them — the two founders at Wake Up World, Ryan and Andy, and the beautiful friend they helped, Raelie.

These guys, as you can imagine, are pretty busy. But last month they took weeks off, lost a bunch of sleep, and moved 600 miles to be there for their friend, day after day, when she needed help for a serious medical condition. They worked late at night, for many nights, trying to keep up with their “day job” while they helped Raelie: cooking, running errands, hospital visits, hot water bottles delivered by Andy in a hand-woven nurse-like beanie, foot and head massages, child-sitting, carrying her to the toilet in the middle of night, telling jokes and entertaining Raelie with nonsense — you name it.

Pot Revenue Is So High in Colorado, State Will Have to Reimburse Taxpayers

When Colorado decided to legalize the recreational use of marijuana, everyone expected the state’s tax revenue to increase. What they didn’t realize at the time was that the state government might actually make too much money. So far the state has earned over $150 million from the 30% tax on pot, which has exceeded expectations.

Now they may have to pay some of that money back to the taxpayers. According to a 1992 amendment to Colorado’s constitution called the ‘Taxpayer Bill of Rights’ when the state earns more than they anticipated from a given industry, they have to return the difference to the people. When pot was first legalized the state didn’t expect a whole lot of money, so they underestimated future profits. Now they’ll have to find some way to give $50 million back to the public.

Balance on the Planet

God said:

Fatigue is an idea. It is a loaded idea. It carries a lot of baggage with it. It is rumored that you are not supposed to get tired, as though something is wrong if you get tired. You earn your tiredness, beloveds.

Our dear animals get their sleep, why not you?

Sometimes you give the impression that you look at getting enough rest as an imposition and insignificant next to whizzing around the planet.

Breathing is not meant only for exhale. There is also inhale. Is one better than another? Are they in competition?

You fill your car’s gas tank. You don’t take a dim view of your car’s needing gas. Hmm, come to think of it, once in a while you may complain that it’s using too much gas.

You don’t object to refilling your glass of water.

You eat often enough. You accommodate filling your tummy.

What exactly is it you resist about going to bed early, as if it were a sacrifice? Well, then, consider rest as an altar. I am with you in sleep as well as on the dance floor.

Rest is as important as running around out there.

You spend money. It is dollars and cents – and common sense - to know you have to fill the coffers.

A gum-ball machine has to be refilled. What good is it on empty?

You are entitled to rest. Rest is equivalent to oiling your gun. Just do it. Don’t procrastinate. Be glad to rest. There is a tendency for your mind to say one thing and your body another.

Respect your body.

You can’t be only get-up-and-go.

Prime the pump.

You’re More “Successful” Than You Realize – A Social Experiment That Will Touch Your Heart (Video)

“Success,” according to Merriam-Webster’s dictionary, is “the fact of getting or achieving wealth, respect, or fame.” This description is not far off from society’s overall accepted definition today, where unfortunately, unless you are obtaining and accumulating a fair amount of material wealth and possessions, you are considered unsuccessful in society’s eyes.

Where does this definition come from? Is it corporate driven? After all, it’s what we see on our television screen all day long. Clever marketing defines success, influencing our thoughts, wants, needs, and actions, encouraging mass consumption and the accumulation of material possessions and wealth.

Does it really matter what we do for a living? What type of ‘things’ we have or where we live? Or is a homeless person with no material possessions with a giant, loving, caring heart more ‘successful’ than someone who has all of that other stuff? What do you see as successful?

Or is success determined by the individual rather than the collective? Could it be, perhaps, that those who give their power over to this definition of success are the only ones affected by it? What about those who neither care nor pay attention to this version of success? What about those who have freed themselves from the mental prisons of societal definitions?

California Announces Plans To Label Monsanto’s ‘Roundup’ Herbicide As Cancer-Causing

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Tue, 09/08/2015 - 08:57

Source: www.naturalsociety.com | Original Post Date: September 6, 2015 –

Monsanto may be in for a big surprise, courtesy of the EPA California state. The EPA’s environmental health hazard assessment office out of California has announced a move to label the primary ingredient in Monsanto’s best-selling herbicide ‘Roundup’ (and four others) as “known to cause cancer.”

This could begin a legal precedent that leads to not only the labeling of Roundup as ‘known to cause cancer’, but other Monsanto creations (and crops known to be sprayed heavily with glyphosate-based products).
