As transiting Sun makes his way towards the end of Pisces this week, Mercury enters Pisces and becomes greatly influenced by Neptune, in Neptune’s sign and conjunct to the titan who rules Pisces. Inspirational thought, nebulous communication, fuzzy logic, and using creativity to adapt are pertinent themes relating to Mercury-Neptune this week. Also, Mars in his home sign, Aries, acts with Uranus with the two conjunct. Electricity meets fire! Impulsive actions, sudden bursts of energy, innovative drive, and fiery revolution in the air this week contrast with the watery mix of Mercury and Neptune in the previous sign. Speaking of air, much of the week lacks the air element in the signs, with the quick Moon representing the only planet in an air sign for a few days. Thinking, socializing, and communicating are always relevant, however, and Vesta’s dedication, Zeus’ immediate presence and focused energy, and the forward-looking North Node in air signs help balance the strong influence of the watery and fiery nature of the planetary manifestations this week.

1. WATCH YOUR THOUGHTS

The practice of change begins by watching thoughts as they arise and begin understanding and befriending the landscape of the mind.  People live many years of their lives not knowing their own thoughts.  For this reason, thoughts run rampant and can run the show.  After many years of letting thoughts tread their paths through the mind, it becomes nearly impossible to stop them.  It is then that medications are often needed to stop the thoughts that fuel the deleterious emotions.  Rather than letting it go that far, we begin to gain some control over the thoughts ourselves.  We watch them.  We listen to them.  We become aware of this level of life that has been ignored for so long.

Scientists have turned their attention to yet another celestial body in our solar system – Enceladus – as a potential site for life outside of the Earth.

Scientists announced in a new study published in Nature that the icy moon of Saturn likely has an active hydrothermal system. That means that there is warm running water under the icy, cracked, cratered surface of this moon.

Enceladus first indicated itself a candidate for life outside of our planet when Cassini first saw plumes of water vapor bursting from its south pole in 2005. It was unclear up until now where those plumes were coming from and why.

Although we may all have had one or two spiritual ‘awakenings’ in our lives; awakenings that opened us up to the Divine in violent and soul-shaking, or quietly beautiful ways, keeping up this connection on a daily basis can be a challenge.

When unique feelings and deep knowings subside and are replaced by the empty shell of ritual and repetition; insisting to our friends and families that this is the way it happens, or simply sticking quite stubbornly to reliving that experience over and over in our heads… our connection to the Divine has seemingly dried up.

Though the intensity of our connection will naturally peak and trough throughout our lives, there are things that we can do to stay closer to the higher love, either by locating it in every moment we remember to – living in a moment to moment meditation – or by connecting specifically to those energies that are always there for you.

The monster has been called a lot of names: “the imposter syndrome,” “the lizard brain,” “the inner fraud.” It’s that voice inside your head undermining everything you do.

You’re not good enough…You just got really lucky…There are people far better and more qualified than you…

It’s been defined as, “a collection of feelings of inadequacy that persist even in face of information that indicates that the opposite is true. It is experienced internally as chronic self-doubt, and feelings of intellectual fraudulence.”

There are a number of reasons why the negative voice exists:

• Maintaining the comfort zone. Self-critical thinking steers you away from the unknown and frightening tasks (even though you know growth comes from being stretched and stepping outside your comfort zone). It’s a safety mechanism with good intentions, but unproductive outcomes.
• Inherited behavior. Those who grew up with highly critical parents unknowingly mirror and internalize the negative talk they received.

A few years ago a friend of mine was knocked off his motorbike at a high speed. The impact catapulted him through the air, and when he hit the ground he lost consciousness. The next thing he knew he woke up in hospital eight hours later. But he can still vividly remember the few moments before he lost consciousness:

I saw the car’s windscreen shattering. The glass sprayed out so slowly, like a fan, and it looked beautiful. All the pieces were shining in the sun. I felt like I was floating through the air, almost as if I wasn’t going to come down. I looked into the sun and it was like being on a plane, when you’re above the clouds and it’s a brilliant white colour.

It’s extremely common for accidents and other moments of sudden shock to bring an extreme slowing down of time. Here a person who regularly goes riding told me how she experiences a radically slowing down of time when she falls off her horse:
