Freedom is a State of Mind

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Tue, 02/03/2015 - 08:30

The youth of today, like all youth, are in revolt against society, and that is a good thing in itself, but revolt is not freedom because when you revolt it is a reaction and that reaction sets up its own pattern and you get caught in that pattern. You think it is something new. it is not; it is the old in a different mould. Any social or political revolt will inevitably revert to the good old bourgeois mentality.

Freedom comes only when you see and act, never through revolt. The seeing is the acting and such action is as instantaneous as when you see danger. Then there is no cerebration, no discussion or hesitation; the danger itself compels the act, and therefore to see is to act and to be free.

The Religious Teacher and the Little Bird: A Short Story

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Tue, 02/03/2015 - 08:28

flying-little-bird

There is a story of a religious teacher who used to talk every morning to his disciples. One morning he got on to the platform and was just about to begin when a little bird came and sat on the window sill and began to sing, and sang away with full heart. Then it stopped and flew away and the teacher said, `The sermon for this morning is over’.

A State of Grace

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Tue, 02/03/2015 - 08:23

A state of grace exists for those who are aware, because no
effort is needed to know.  Only the mind requires effort --
the ego loves to trap us there.

When we know our oneness for the first time, within the
silence, we know effort is useless. We realize that we are
that which we seek.

Effort only exhausts the mind and ego and forces a
surrender.  We cannot attain anything through the mind and
ego, thus we learn to let go.

Namaste.

Astrology Forecast for the 2015 Leo Full Moon

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Mon, 02/02/2015 - 21:18

by Kathy Biehl

February 3, 2015

14 Leo 47 / 14 Aquarius 47

3:08 PM PST / 6:08 PM EST / 11:08 GMT

In the depth of winter, the Leo Full Moon directs attention to our inner fires. It’s always prone to drama, flair, and aggrandized emotions, but this year’s model is more exciting and larger-than-life than usual. This one comes with the cosmic equivalent of tossing accelerant and couple of sticks of dynamite into the flames.

The mix is motivating, energizing and, ultimately, life-affirming. Even if the week’s events are not exceptional (which is unlikely), your inner experience will be. Energies are coming to the surfacing that have been sparking for some time, and they are signs of developments to come next month. Consider what happens this week as starting to come back to life in the midst of the winter doldrums and Piscean fog.

Watch for themes in the hubbub: How brightly and how far does your light shine? Are you holding it back, or do you fan and revel in it? Who notices? Who finds warmth in it? Who appreciates, validates and/or fuels it?

The 6 Grand Illusions That Keep Us Enslaved to the Matrix

“In prison, illusions can offer comfort.” – Nelson Mandela

For a magician to fool his audience his deceit must go unseen, and to this end he crafts an illusion to avert attention from reality. While the audience is entranced, the deceptive act is committed, and for the fool, reality then becomes inexplicably built upon on a lie. That is, until the fool wakes up and recognizes the truth in the fact that he has been duped.

Maintaining the suspension of disbelief in the illusion, however, is often more comforting than acknowledging the magician’s secrets.

3 Profound Parables to Shift Your Perspective

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Mon, 02/02/2015 - 21:09

If a picture speaks a thousand words, then a parable speaks a thousand truths. We love stories with hidden meanings—whether it’s a movie, book, or performance, the underlying truth that sparks the “A-ha moment” captures us. That’s what parables do.

Parables have been told for centuries across all cultures, and they’re just as profound today. Here are three timeless parables that will challenge and change the way you live life.

1. The Muddy Road

Tanzan and Ekido were once traveling together down a muddy road. A heavy rain was still falling.

Coming around a bend, they met a lovely girl in a silk kimono and sash, unable to cross the intersection.

“Come on, girl,” said Tanzan at once. Lifting her in his arms, he carried her over the mud.

Ekido did not speak again until that night when they reached a lodging temple. Then he no longer could restrain himself.

“We monks don’t go near females,” he told Tanzan, “especially not young and lovely ones. It is dangerous. Why did you do that?”

“I left the girl there,” said Tanzan. “Are you still carrying her?”
