What is the Matrix?

School or prison, depending on your chosen perspective. On the one hand, it is a hyperdimensional teaching system accelerating your rate of spiritual evolution by providing you with catalytic experiences in response to your thoughts, emotions, and spiritual composition.

On the other hand, many of these experiences manifest as predatory forces preying upon your weaknesses. Of course, the only way to prevent being manipulated by these forces is to discover, integrate, and transform your weaknesses into strengths, thereby indirectly accomplishing the higher purpose of the Matrix, which is to help you transcend it.

The Buddha famously said that the cause of suffering (dukkha) is clinging. In fact, it is the second of his Four Noble Truths. For most people this idea speaks to the things in our lives that we like and want to hold onto, and the things we do not like and we want to make go away.

While there is truth in this view, it is nonetheless one step removed from the deeper truth that most fail to see. The attempt to identify everything that I like or don’t like and what I am holding onto or pushing away is difficult because there are so many. Yet that is how most of us begin our journey toward greater awareness. We attempt to pay attention to everything we are clinging to and try to be better at letting them go, and we pay attention to those things we dislike and try to be better at accepting them.

HJ: One of the most fundamental measures of a persons level of consciousness is the degree to which they realize everything is perfect just as it is.  As you become more conscious you can begin to see beyond the illusions of duality and realize that everyone is experiencing exactly what they need for their growth and expansion and themselves created in every single moment.  And that the entire world is the most complex symphony and dance between the collective creations of each and every individual person combined.  And therefore all is as it should be and, of course, the key to improving the human condition is then the healing of each and every person individually.  We all contribute our own little piece to the collective reality and it is the cumulative momentum and trends in consciousness that create the larger scenarios and patterns we see on the world stage.  To shift into a state in which you can see the beauty and good in all of your experiences provides you with instant liberation from further suffering and struggle in your life.  Challenges are inevitable, but struggle and suffering are optional.

I think everyone around us is a reflection of our consciousness, and in order to experience lasting harmony with the people in our lives, we’ll want to recognize that they’re us in a different form. When we can see that there are no real differences between us (beyond the illusory ones we create), it should be easier to come together and heal the earth.

In order to create outer change, we’ll have to embrace changing within; aligning with the divine and using the inspiration that results to express unbridled love to everyone around us.

When we get upset with someone for something they do or say, we fail to recognize that they are us. We could just as easily say or do something that unintentionally hurts someone else, and it helps to remember that we’re all human and we’re all doing our best on this crazy rollercoaster ride we call life.
