This Inexpensive Do It Yourself Greenhouse Will Have You Growing Food All Winter

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Thu, 11/13/2014 - 16:38

The importance of being able to rely on yourself for more things is becoming increasingly important. More and more people are living in poverty, working low wage jobs and relying on handouts from the government and various charities. Being willing to help those in need is something we should all feel good about, but we should also help each other learn to be more self-reliant, especially in an economic system that is completely out of control.

In this video, we’ll learn how to build our own greenhouses so we can continue growing food well into the winter months. With an internal heat source of some kind, you can definitely make sure your fruits and vegetables don’t freeze. It’s my goal to be able to grow my own food someday, and greenhouse projects like this will be what gets me there.

Just one more piece in the puzzle to self-sufficiency and learning to live off the grid.

7 Strange Phenomena Of The Mind

Déjà Visité

Déjà visité is an amazing feeling of familiarity with a place you’ve never been. If you’re walking around a new city or perhaps forest and you have this strange feeling of being there before – well maybe you have in a dreams state or on a higher frequency. I was walking around a neighborhood in Santa Cruz – a place I never thought I’d visit.

I had a completely overwhelming feeling of being here before.

I had actually thought of this place as a kid, and it had more to do with the feeling of being here rather than what everything looked like.

The experience was amazing and brought me to tears as I was overcome with feelings of gratitude.

Astronomers Enamored With The Extreme Storms On Uranus

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Thu, 11/13/2014 - 16:34

Uranus is usually a pretty bland, unspectacular place. But lately, Uranus has been incredibly active! New photos of Uranus taken by a 10 meter Keck telescope on August 6, 2014 show bright bands of storms just raging across Uranus.

“The weather on Uranus is incredibly active,” professor and chair of astronomy at the University of California, Berkley Imke de Pater said. “This type of activity would have been expected in 2007, when Uranus’s once every 42 year equinox occurred and the sun shined directly on the equator.”

French astronomer Marc Delcroix was the first to process the amateur images taken by Regis de-Benedictis, followed by other amateur astronomers later in September and October. He photographed the storms over Uranus himself on October 3rd and 4th.

“I was thrilled to see such activity on Uranus....

10 Things That Will Happen When You Start Pursuing Your Dreams

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Thu, 11/13/2014 - 11:47

This is a guest article from Ash Cebulka: www.ashcebulka.com

So you took the leap. You’re pursuing your passions and it’s a relatively new reality for you. Or perhaps you’re entertaining the idea, and your ball of nerves and upset stomach have held you back from jumping of the cliff and into uncertainty.

Let’s just get real and honest about a few things you can expect when you take the big risk to pursue your dreams.

1. You are going to be scared sh*tless, more than once.

Fear may be paralyzing at times, yet the desire and passion to do what you love has a stronger hold on you than fear ever could.

2. There are times you’re going to be uncertain.

And it may be really, really uncomfortable. It’s OK.

3. You’re going to get way out of your comfort zone.

This is a good thing, because you’re going to need to in order to grow and expand the way your purpose asks you to.

4. Doubt will inevitably creep in.

You’ll eventually learn to either laugh at it and yourself, or spend way too long entertaining it...

The Words That Seal Our Fate

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Thu, 11/13/2014 - 09:25

I was talking with a friend last night who decided to give me unsolicited advice. I, like most people, don’t take kindly to this. In fact, it annoys the shit out of me. In an effort to change the conversation to more neutral territory, I decided to fall on my sword and say, “Yeah, that’s just who I am. I don’t deal well with stress. Transitions kill me, but at least I know that.”

Immediately after I said it, I had a strange feeling in the pit of my stomach. I felt like I had just sealed my fate. Let me explain.

One of our greatest strengths is the capacity to grow, to assess our current situation and make choices that align with what we truly want. But it’s hard to do that when we carelessly “accept” false notions of ourselves.

And that brings me to the subject of acceptance...

By definition, Schedule I Drugs are drugs, substances or chemicals with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse. Schedule I drugs are the most dangerous drugs of all the drug schedules with potentially severe psychological and physical dependence. The drugs included in this schedule are:

  • Heroin
  • Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD)
  • 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (ecstasy)
  • Methaqualone
  • Peyote
  • Marijuana

One of the biggest hindrances to rescheduling cannabis from that list is the refusal of the federal government to acknowledge any of the medicinal benefits of the plant. But something strange happened in the third day of hearings about the constitutionality...

Meditation and Cognitive Development

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Thu, 11/13/2014 - 08:54

By Catherine King

meditation_OMTimesMany studies have been done to determine how the practice of meditation affects both mind and body in humans. It has been scientifically proven to reduce stress, slow metabolism, and lower blood pressure.  Studies have also begun to determine how meditation effects serious illness such as cancer and asthma, and whether the effects of meditation are physiologically genuine or just a function of mind over matter.

 Meditation and Memory

Memory is the process by which we store information for subsequent retrieval. This is done through a variety of learned processes, like simple tricks we teach ourselves to remember things like names, locations, and instructions. Sometimes memories are retrieved easily and naturally, but as humans we’ve learned to train our brains to retrieve information through various games and tricks, like using anagrams and associative thinking.
