Hurricane Sandy Proved How Hard It Is To Break The Internet

All the damage to the communications infrastructure brought on by Hurricane Sandy is sure giving the people who keep track of the technical underpinnings of the Internet a lot of fodder to see how well things do and don’t work in real-world situations.

The folks at Renesys, the market research firm that keeps constant tabs on the health and operations of the Internet, watched networks in and around New York fail in real time as the hurricane swept across the region.

You’ll remember that the fundamental design principle of the Internet is that it routes traffic around failure automatically — supposedly, the legend goes, to enable it to keep running after a nuclear war. Well, the folks at Renesys watched that happen in real time, too. In its latest corporate blog post, it shows via a handful of colorful graphics how the traffic that would normally have run through New York took a different route, say from Paris to Washington D.C., or via Dallas to Palo Alto to get to India.

On October 28 we reported the  incredible UFO event over the Popocatepeti Volcano in Mexico.

On November 8, a new unidentified flying object was recorded on the crater.

The Popocatepetl volcano area is well known for UFO sightings.

FARSIDE EXPLOSION: As solar activity picks up on the Earthside of the sun (see "Broken Quiet" below), the farside of the sun is coming alive, too. During the early hours of Nov. 9th, a magnetic filament located behind the sun's southeastern limb erupted, hurling a bright coronal mass ejection (CME) into space:

This explosion was not geoeffective, but future explosions might be. The blast site, still potent, is just days away from rotating onto the Earthside of the sun. You can monitor its progress using NASA's 3D Sun app for smartphones, which makes it easy to view and explore the farside of the sun.

Total Solar Eclipse Nov 2012 / Unuk Snake heart

As the Moon obliterates the Sun and aligns with the fixed star Unuk (aka “Snake Heart”) the total solar eclipse from 13th-14th November 2012 will exert an extremely compelling and hypnotic energy here on Earth.  Situated approximately 73 light years away and rhythmically pulsating with a pale yellow light, this cunning star from the constellation Serpens seeks release in the seductive, unconscious and instinctive sexual/aggressive forces deep within us.  But as the eclipse cuts a swathe of darkness across the face of the Earth, the rhythm of this beating heart will stop for a few moments… and so with it the repressed coiled energies of the collective.  So seductive… and addictive, this uncontrolled and corrupt energy is potentially violent and criminal.  However, if acknowledged, accepted and celebrated, the animal urges inherent in the human species can be channelled into a new realm of possibilities… where the undulating vibrations of instinctive awareness are harnessed into higher awareness, offering supreme enlightenment and a gateway to bliss. This is the beginning of the shift of consciousness.

Well, here we are 43 days out from the much debated date of 21/12/12.

Let’s knock one furphy on the head straight away. The Maya NEVER said that that solstice will mark the end of the world. They had at least 24 calendars, with the main one – the Baktun – being about 400 years long. This is the 13th Baktun, about to end – a 5,125 time period. The only unusual thing about that particular point in time is that most of their calendars will `roll over’ on that date. It’s a bit like our midnight on New Years eve – at that moment, a series of seconds, minutes, days, weeks, months and a year ALL END. And start all over again at a pico-second past midnight! Just as the Mayan calendric cycles will on 22/12/12.

OK, what else.

Well, we are apparently crossing the galactic equator, and thus traversing the accretion ring around our galaxy, the Milky Way. Hence, I suppose, the uptick in meteors, comets, and even global warming. (Friction through the dust?) This is certainly a first in (recorded) human history!

Good old humanity has nearly made the planet unsustainable, so Big Mama is getting a bit peeved. Won’t bore you with the details – if you’re reading this, you already know.
