Science: Plants Have Senses and Can Hear, Feel and Identify Attackers

The plant world is a violent place. When munching caterpillars or grazing cattle set their sights on a luscious leaf, a plant can’t hightail it out of harm’s way. Instead, flora fight back with noxious chemicals. But what repels one critter may not work on the next hungry mouth, explains Heidi Appel, a senior research scientist in the Bond Life Sciences Center at the University of Missouri. She’s found that some plants can actually hear their attackers noshing away, discern which species is chowing down—and respond accordingly to each assailant.

That’s right: Plants can hear and feel touch, and Appel’s work is revealing that their sensory systems are far more complex than previously realized. “They are way more clever than we give them credit for,” she says. They also have their own way of seeing, she points out—just watch a seedling grow toward a light source—and smelling, too, in how they sense volatiles released as warning signals by other plants.

No Two Ways about Oneness

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Thu, 05/14/2015 - 19:08

Of thee I sing. My children, I call you to Me, and you come to Me, each fitting within the other, until there is One Totality Who sings in answer to My calling you. You populate My thoughts. You shadow Me until you know that We become One, and One Alone Is. Oneness reigns. You are encapsulated within Me until any perceived distinctions are no longer, and, then, there is Oneness alone, yet Oneness is never alone.

There is no sovereign, for One does not rule nor is One ruled. Oneness loves. Love is a reverberation. It is a high note, in truth, as all notes sung are high. There is no low. There is no differentiation. There is no affectation. There is only Oneness, the innocence of Oneness which makes no comparisons. There is nothing to compare when Oneness is known and you have entered its gateway and passed the gate.

So, Who are You, and Who am I when there is no difference? If I am you, are you not I? When one heart beats, what can distract? And who can be distracted? Where lies the rub when Oneness is All? Whose hand holds Mine when there is no hand but Mine to hold? What interruption can there be in Oneness? What loss? What favor or disfavor? Love is love, and there are no two ways about Oneness.

The Taboo Against Paranormal Experience is a Taboo Against Freedom

Paranormal-1

For those who want to examine a rigorous presentation of the paranormal, based on a long history of laboratory experiments, I recommend Dean Radin’s classic, The Conscious Universe: The Scientific Truth of Psychic Phenomena. (HarperCollins, 1997)

This article is not about that.

It’s about a taboo.

On the one side, we have people who denigrate the possibility of the paranormal. On the other side, we have people who, ungrounded in the physical world, try to stage what amounts to a paranormal escape operation, only to fall back into their increasingly chaotic circumstances.

In the middle are persons who have genuinely experienced the paranormal, know it, feel no obsession to shout it from the rooftops, and go on with their lives.

Institutional Thinking – The Matrix, 1984 and The Allegory of The Cave

Some philosophical work is so profound as to be influential for thousands of years. Plato’s ‘The Republic‘ is one such series of dialogues. It explains and explores the relationship between state institutions and individuals, and has provided humanity with lessons in politics, philosophy and individual enlightenment since it was penned some two thousand years ago.

One of the central dialogues in The Republic is called the Allegory of the Cave. The lessons the Allegory of the Cave provides to today’s world are numerous, and its depiction of our insidious societal structure is extremely accurate and insightful — despite often going unacknowledged as such.  Through its exploration of our political outer states, it also explores our psychological inner state as well.
