Fed up with soaring rates of disease from intravenous drug use, Portugal tried something radical: they decriminalized drugs. Yes, all drugs. Across the board from marijuana to heroin to ecstasy. And it worked.

In July 2001, Law 30/2000 went into effect, decriminalizing the purchase, possession, and consumption of all drugs for personal use. Though this is not the same as legalization, and the drugs are still illegal, “Otherwise, we would have gotten in trouble with the UN”, Dr João Goulão, President of the Institute of Drugs and Drug Addiction and architect of the law, explains, it shifts the focus from punishment to treatment, so getting caught using these drugs amounts to little more than the equivalent of a parking ticket. “We figured perhaps this way we would be better able get things under control. Criminalization certainly wasn’t working all that well.”

I am inspired by the very definition of self-reliance: to be reliant on one’s own capabilities, judgment, or resources. Ultimately, it is the epitome of independence and lays the groundwork of what we are all striving for – to live a life based on our personal principles and beliefs.

It is a concept rooted in the groundwork  that made America great. Being dependent on our own capabilities and resources helped create a strong, plentiful country for so long. That said, the existing country as it is now is entirely different than when it began.

Why Are We So Dependent?

It is much too complicated to get into how the “system” was created. That said, the purpose is to enslave through debt and to create an interdependence that will force you and your family to never truly find the freedom you are seeking...

In terms of the world, you simply do not have enough information to go on, yet you have had the idea that you are to know all the why’s and wherefore’s of life, as if explanations are owed you. No matter how many times you may come up against the idea that you cannot have all your questions in the world answered to your satisfaction, nevertheless, you still hold onto the idea that the world must serve itself up to you and tell you everything you want to know in a respectful manner.

There are matters in the world that you just have to take for granted. You aren’t Sherlock Holmes who can put everything together and so solve all that you want solved. The world does not give you all the answers. This is hard for you to accept. Beloveds, you just can’t change the lay of the land according to your desires.

Of course, on some level hidden to you, you do know all the answers. The thing is that you don’t know how to quite reach the answers. You want to understand everything. You want to plow through life with all your lights on, yet you are not quite plugged in as yet. You know, and don’t know, and you are eager to know with certainty all that which you don’t know. And that’s a lot, of course, for, in the world, everything is in process of change.

Anyway, half the answers your conscious mind will not accept anyway because the answers may cut against the grain of what you call right. You like to make demands on life. Life dances a different tune from what you consider appropriate and acceptable.

Intuition is our natural psychic power. It’s a sort of GPS system for our soul that allows us to navigate energy and potential outcomes. When we learn to sharpen it, listen to it, and refine it, it can act as a sixth sense that can help guide as our on journey.

Although everyone has a natural intuitive connection, some have sharper intuition than others.
