There is a move towards seeking to live in harmony with nature, as was once the case, and not to treat the natural world as an enemy or something to be exploited. There is a shift to an integrated, holistic, interconnected, and transpersonal way of living, and away from the individualistic mentality that stems from a belief in separateness. There is transformation from the self-centered and ego-dominant individual to the selfless and unity-oriented being. There is a shift from the competition-based mode of operating in society to the cooperative-minded means of operation. All these shifts are occurring right now and will continue to occur if consciousness continues down its current path of positive progression into the higher echelons of being-ness.

Don’t Miss This Weekend’s Geminid Meteor Shower

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Fri, 12/12/2014 - 13:45

This weekend, a celestial event is set to stun. The Geminid meteor shower will peak on the evening of December 13th and the very early morning hours of December 14th, before dawn. The quarter moon will rise around midnight, but Geminid meteors are incredibly bright, so that shouldn’t be an issue. Geminid meteor showers favor the northern hemisphere but are likely to be visible in the southern hemisphere too.

Timeless

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Fri, 12/12/2014 - 12:44

All of our lives are timeless and only experienced through awareness.

Time freezes our attention and makes us believe we are a solitary entity. Awareness allows us to escape the illusion and limitation of time.

We are soul expressing self, through multiple dimensions, all at one time, within the illusion of self.

Everything exists within the moment of now -- every potential, every outcome.

Namaste.

The Virtual Aether “Empty Space” Gets an Upgrade 300x300 The Virtual Aether “Empty Space” Gets an Upgrade

Though previously a popular scientific concept (in the form of the lumeniferous aether), the notion of an aether (ether) had essentially become taboo in science after the infamous Michelson-Morley (M-M) experiment supposedly disproved its existence in 1887, even though at best (or worst) all it did was seemingly to disprove (or rather, fail to demonstrate) the existence of an inert material or mechanical aether, hanging in the air like a gas. The adoption of Einstein’s relativistic theories where space-time was dependent on (relative to) an observer’s speed supposedly ruled out an aetheric medium which rationally offered a single universal metric for space and for time.

7 Signs You’re Secretly Unhappy

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Fri, 12/12/2014 - 12:33

There are billions of people on our planet, and some are truly happy. The rest of us bounce back and forth between happiness and well, unhappiness depending on the day.

I’ve learned there are certain traits and habits chronically unhappy people seem to have mastered. We all have bad days, even weeks — myself included — when we fall down in all seven areas.

The difference between a happy and unhappy life is how often and how long we stay there.

Here are the seven qualities of chronically unhappy people.

1. Your default belief is that life is hard.

Happy people know life can be hard and tend to bounce through hard times with an attitude of curiosity versus victimhood. They take responsibility for how they got themselves into a mess, and focus on getting themselves out of it as soon as possible.

The more research is released, the more legalization makes sense.

Back in the 1930s, the arguments to criminalize cannabis were bizarre and openly racist. The anti-pot crusader Harry Anslinger made all sorts of over-the-top claims, such as, “Marihuana is a short cut to the insane asylum. Smoke marihuana cigarettes for a month and what was once your brain will be nothing but a storehouse of horrid specters.”

11 Chemicals Creating ‘Global, Silent Pandemic’ of Autism, ADHD and Dyslexia, Study Finds

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Fri, 12/12/2014 - 12:25

The latest statistics from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimate that more than 5.4 million American children between the ages of four and 17 living today have been diagnosed with the behavioral disorder known as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

The study, published in The Lancet Neurology, finds a list of common chemicals are likely contributing to what the researchers are calling the “global, silent pandemic of neurodevelopmental toxicity” in children, reports Forbes.

The 11 chemicals and their effects (via Forbes):

Lead–This is one of the most extensively researched compounds in terms of neurodevelopment, and has been consistently linked to serious deficits, including low IQ. Its effects seem to be permanent, leading to the conclusion that there is no safe level of exposure.

House Of Representatives Uses The NDAA To Give Apache Lands To A Foreign Corporation

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Fri, 12/12/2014 - 12:23

The NDAA is just the gift that keeps on giving, isn’t it? Prior to vote, the House and Senate Arms Services Committee attached a provision to the NDAA that would transfer the Apache people’s ancestral lands in the Tonto National Forest to a corporation called Resolution copper, which is a subsidiary of Rio Tinto, which as an Australian-English mining company. Senator John McCain, the senior Republican Senator from Arizona headed the push for this provision to be included.

As can be expected, Apache leaders were appalled by this move. They learned of the provision, ironically, while attending the White House Tribal Nations conference. Republicans have been trying to give ancestral lands to corporations for years now, but have always been blocked by significant opposition by the San Carlos Apache Tribe and their Democratic allies in Congress. But now, the NDAA will go to the Senate for a vote...

They Gave A Third Grader A Cabbage Plant. They Couldn’t Have Expected The Results

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Fri, 12/12/2014 - 12:22

Katie was given a cabbage and the rest is history.

Katie, a third grader, was granted a cabbage plant through a school program to grow, and grow it did! Not only did her plant grow, but her passion for local farming and feeding the hungry did as well. Katie displays a kind of pragmatism and strength that is hard to find even in adults.

“Some people approach an issue and say, ‘well this issue is too big, I can’t do anything about it.'” she says in the intro of the video, “I know that by myself I can’t end hunger, but it doesn’t matter how small your actions are, even if you don’t realize it at the time, you’re making a difference.”

Drought-stricken California battered with intense rain and winds

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Fri, 12/12/2014 - 12:21

Drought-stricken California was battered with intense rain and winds since early Thursday morning, December 11, as well as parts of Oregon and Washington in what US National Weather Service (NWS) office in California forecasted as one of the strongest storms in terms of wind and rain intensity since October 2009.

This strong Pacific storm, dubbed the Pineapple Express, killed at least two people on Thursday, knocked out power for tens of thousands, flooded major roadways, disrupted flights, forced schools to close and caused mudslides and evacuations in Southern California.

2.91 inches (73 mm) of rain was recorded in just one hour on the Big Sur coast Thursday. During yesterday's full 24 hours, 3.55 inches (90 mm) of rain fell in the San Francisco Bay Area, it was their second wettest December 11 on record.
