[KP note about this post: this feels like it will be part "informational" and part "channel-ational"; namely, maybe a little bit of both]

So when I went to take a walk today, it was going to be one of my “standard” walks, up Napo’opo’o, and then back down Napo’opo’o. I kind of knew it was not going to be very “standard”, when as I reached the top of our private driveway, I turned around to see, through the clouds, an “eye in the sky”. I tried to run back and grab a photo with my camera, but when I came back with it, the eye was gone.

CHANCE OF FLARES: Sunspot AR1465 has developed a 'beta-gamma-delta' magnetic field that harbors energy for strong flares. NOAA forecasters estimate a 20% chance of M-class eruptions during the next 24 hours. Because the active region is located on the Earthside of the sun, any flares from AR1465 will likely be geoeffective.

Even without a strong eruption from AR1465, ionization waves are already rippling through Earth's upper atmosphere. Dave Gradwell of Birr, Ireland, recorded a series of sudden ionospheric disturbances (SIDs) on April 27th:

Low-level flares from several sunspot groups (especially 1465, 1466 and 1467) are strobing the atmosphere with ionizing radiation. Using a VLF receiver, Gradwell detected their effect on the propagation of radio signals transmitted from France. So far the disturbances have been relatively weak, but this could change if AR1465 unleashes a more potent eruption over the weekend. Solar flare alerts: text, phone.

Whiz Kids: 5 Amazing Young Inventors

Here are the stories of four young inventors who have already made their mark on the world, and one who hopes to in the years to come.

(editor's note: Today we'll celebrate a school garden in D.C., learn more about safety and early detection from the healing rumblings of Mexico's "Popo" volcano, and then examine energy storage innovations in the fast-growing Canadian wind power movement. Rather than become disheartened by the negative news of mainstream media, I challenge you to look deeper -to find healing earth heroes in your own community. A School Garden Blooms for Earth Day

Siberian ginseng

You can buy a ginseng preparation (eleutherococcus) at a health food store. Take it as directed for three weeks in the spring and fall before the "cold season" to strengthen your immunity. If you can't find ginseng, echinacia will have a similar effect on the body.
