The Laws of the Pharmaceutical Business with Disease

Some people may say that the pharmaceutical industry cannot be that bad. Unfortunately, it is. Fortunately, however, it is very easy for everyone to understand why this industry has such a detrimental effect on millions of human lives.

It is not about individual drugs or individual companies. It is about the principles – the laws – of the pharmaceutical ‘business with disease’. The most important of these laws can be summarized in the following way:

1. The pharmaceutical industry is not a ‘health industry’, but an ‘investment business’ that thrives on the continuation and expansion of diseases.

An individual’s view of health determinants is directly correlated to their sources and how they process information. Regardless of its accuracy, when something is repeated a sufficient number of times, people will start to believe it. The cancer and sunscreen industries have made it their mission to convince the world that sunlight is a primary cause of skin cancer, when it fact it has been shown to prevent it. In fact, considerable evidence shows that blocking the sun’s rays from reaching our skin with, for example sunscreen, significantly decreases our uptake of vitamin D levels, leading to higher mortality, critical illness, mental health disorders and cancer itself.

Materialism doesn’t lead to well-being, but altruism does.

So many of us strive so hard for material success that you might think there was a clear relationship between wealth and happiness. The media and our governments encourage us to believe this, since they need us to keep earning and spending to boost economic growth. From school onwards, we’re taught that long term well-being stems from achievement and economic prosperity – from ‘getting on’ or ‘making it’, accumulating more and more wealth, achievement and success.

Consequently, it comes as a shock for many people to learn that there is no straightforward relationship between wealth and well-being. Once our basic material needs are satisfied (i.e. once we’re assured of regular food and adequate shelter and a basic degree of financial security), wealth only has a negligible effect on well-being.

Are you ready to see the largest picture ever taken? For your information, it’s a whopping 1.5 billion pixel image (69,536 x 22,230) and on January 5th, NASA released an image of the Andromeda galaxy, our closest galactic neighbor, captured by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. The final image is composed of 411 Hubble images, and takes you through 100 million stars and travels over 40,000 light years! Well, a section of it does anyway.

Well done, NASA. Our mind has been blown.

Weeds – we just hate them for some reason! We yank them out of the ground, spray chemicals on them; we hate them so much that we can’t even stand them growing in our gravel drive ways and concrete sidewalks. But did you know some of the most common weeds have healing powers?

It’s true! Weeds like dandelion, shepherd’s purse and yarrow actually have medicinal properties to them. And even if you don’t decide to use them as healing medications for you and your family, you shouldn’t spray chemicals on them. Local bee populations suffer as a result, and the bees do love weeds.

Year after year, the Environmental Working Group, a nonprofit organization that advocates for policies that protect global as well as individual health, comes out with a list of the top foods to buy organic, due to their exposure to chemicals, and the top foods you can buy conventionally grown due to the lower levels of exposure. Of course, if you can, always buy organic. We’re providing you this list because we know how hard it can be to buy organic all the time.

Here are the “dirtiest” fruits and veggies you should definitely buy organic:

• Apples
• Grapes
• Strawberries
• Celery
• Peaches
• Spinach
• Sweet bell peppers
• Imported nectarines...

What makes a human great?  What is the difference between a Da Vinci, a Beethoven, a Van Gough and you?  Absolutely nothing!  Each of you possesses a fire, passion and a drive that, once ignited, has the ability to change the world.  The only thing holding it back is you knowing that it can be done.  Let that inspirational force move you to create beauty and joy in your life and the lives of others.  It may not be what is called a ‘master work’ by the masses, but it will be beautiful and unique because you made it.  Remember….your very own Ode To Joy awaits! ~ Creator

Confidence will take you a long way in this world. You don’t get to be the manager of your store, the president of the United States, or anything in between without a little bit of confidence. Instead of telling you about all the things you need to do to be more confident, we’ll talk about the things that highly confident people don’t do.

1. They don’t make any excuses.

What can I say? The confident live up to their mistakes. They don’t blame traffic for being late. They were just late. It happens. They know admitting is the first step to improving.

2. They don’t avoid things that scare them.

Face it, the confident don’t fear things they shouldn’t. They don’t let fear dominate their lives. They know what they’re afraid of and challenge it.
