The shrimp on your dinner table may have been processed by child slaves in Thailand.

A bombshell investigation published today from the Associated Press revealed that a seafood staple in many Americans’ diets is made largely possible through forced labor in a country that’s notorious for its enabling of human traffickers. Much of Thailand’s multi-billion dollar shrimp export industry is made possible with child slave labor, some of whom are so young that they have to stand on a stool to reach the table where families are forced to peel and de-vein shrimp for 12 to 16 hours a day.

The AP tracked shrimp processed in Samut Sakhon — a province just outside of Bangkok — where upwards of 10,000 migrant children ranging from 13 to 15 years old,  are shipped in from neighboring countries like Myanmar and Cambodia and referred to not by their name, but by a number. These children are forced to stand hunched over piles of shrimp and process them at breakneck speeds for little to no pay:

The awakening is erupting.

Many feel lost and afraid right now all across the spectrum of humanity. This deliberate creation of chaos is designed to do just that. However, parallel and simultaneous to their psychotic designs is a massive arousal of the human spirit, spurred on by an arising of conscious awareness and a deep sense of growing personal realization and empowerment.

Most may not recognize these rising seemingly confusing energetic changes as being the creative process at work, but it is. Awakening is first of all a destructive process, eliminating everything that is unreal and inhibitive of personal development and progress. These two dynamics work concurrently.

When you stand back and observe with washened eyes you’ll see it, and it brings great peace in the midst of these stormy times.

For thousands of years, healers around the world have been using plants for their medicinal properties. I do not raise you to ask Me for everything. I do not raise you so that you think you are entitled to special favor, and, that others, perhaps, are not so entitled. Be glad and grateful, and yet don't sit on top of Mount Ida and think you know more than others. Do not sit around thinking that you are more highly evolved than another. You might be surprised, beloveds.

It may seem like “enlightenment” is a place far far away – one that requires us to struggle and suffer to even get close. It may seem like in order to take this “path towards enlightenment” seriously, we need to have the right clothes, buy the right crystals, wear the right pendants, pay for the right courses and follow the right practices. According to these ideas, an enlightened person should look like this:

Enlightenment has become the new “promised land” of spirituality, the state that guarantees peace, happiness, joy and the fulfillment of all desires. It is often portrayed as the “guru” life, one where people will look up to you and consider you as “better” and “wiser” than them. To put it simply, enlightenment can become quite the obstacle to enlightenment.
