The bodily process of digestion and absorption is one of the most important to our health. Hippocrates made this statement over two thousand years ago and it is truer today than ever.

What are the signs of unhealthy digestion?

• Acid reflux
• Throat and nose issues (clearing throat, runny nose, etc.)
• Gas/bloating
• Inflammation anywhere in the body
• Skin disorders anywhere on the body
• Negative reactions to food
• Loose stools or constipation

Our bodies rely on proper enzymes and healthy microbes to work with pathogenic bacteria and to produce anti-bacterial cultures in order to strengthen the intestinal walls and to support our immune system.

For the first half of my life I was a master manipulator, a weaver of grand stories, a long distance runner and avoider of truths and responsibilities, and a victim of the highest order.

It can be very difficult for a person to admit to themselves that they have a victim mentality; facing this fact means you have to admit you are rather accustomed to feeling self pity, as well as placing blame outside of yourself regularly. These are hard admissions to make, let alone try to understand. Yet every person I’ve met who has made this leap from victim to self-aware has benefited in so many ways, and has ultimately become a happier and more balanced person.

Victims are not born, they are made; it is usually through upbringing that a person becomes a victim. When a person is taught by those around them that they have no power, and learn by example of their parents and care givers that life is unfair and it isn’t their fault, it is simply a matter of transferring those feelings of victimization to young people.

God said:

To what do you attribute the pulsating of life in the Heart of Earth and the Forever Ever After?

To what do you attribute the Existence of Life altogether? Life is unfathomable, isn’t it? It is inconceivable, yet life was conceived and then perceived and had its debut before all the attendees and you.

All this to-do, not ado about nothing, yet to-do about a dream that gathered itself and displayed so many rivers of itself, winding and unwinding stories like a flash in the pan, the characters and plots only to be forgotten. There is no record of all the people and all the characters. No one remembers them any more. There is nothing for them to be remembered by, and no one to remember them.

Before this, there was a cry. The cry was: Create. And I created you, the Totality of You.

And so, in your imagined life, you create stories. You murmur them. You visualize them. It can be said that you perpetuate life more than you create it. You deliberate on life. You may not mind your p’s and q’s, yet you mind everything else. You may see life as little you and big ominous forces doing a number on you.

If you feel forsaken, you have forsaken yourself. You stripped yourself of Reality and covered yourself with torn rags of fantasy stirred in a cauldron.

You populate your life with all manner of things, not unimaginable because you do imagine them. You have an idea of strife. You fill in the blanks. Love and beauty may be more vague to you. You tell stories about love and beauty, yet you are not convinced.

Minnesota is investing part of its $1.9 billion surplus into providing internet to rural residents.

Minnesota, once a state drowning in debt, is now being forced to deal with a new problem: how to spend their projected $1.9 billion budget surplus.

The extra $1.9 billion is likely to be allocated toward early childhood education and providing high-speed internet to Minnesota residents, according to the West Central Tribune. Governor Mark Dayton, of Minnesota’s Democrat-Farm Labor Party, ran for office on a call to implement broadband internet “border-to-border” and has called for a $100 million infusion of funds, in conjunction with private investment, to build the initial infrastructure. While the total estimated cost to complete the job is $3.2 billion, Gov. Dayton has plenty of money to work with — the surplus is more than double what the state legislature had on hand by the end of this year’s legislative session in June.

Your brain’s fight-or-flight response is triggered in stressful and potentially threatening situations. But what determines the decision between fighting or fleeing? Why do some people rise to challenges and others avoid them?

The ability to engage with difficulties and stress in a positive way has been described as the biggest factor for success in life — more significant than IQ, physical health, social networks, or socio-economic background.

Whether you fight or flee; see an obstacle or an opportunity, can be boiled down to this: “learned helplessness.” When encountering a difficult situation, people who respond with “helpless” behavior (giving up or fleeing from the situation) have “learned” that response from a past experience. Your future actions are dictated by your past experiences. For example, if you’ve been bitten by a dog in the past, you’ll have a stress-induced flight response the next time you see a dog — even if it is a chihuahua (or maybe, especially if it is a chihuahua). This pattern of “learned” avoidant behaviors has been linked with low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and poor physical health.
