Waking Times

Fear is real enough isn’t it?

I mean, there are times when each one of us feels ‘afraid’. If we didn’t we most probably wouldn’t be around to tell tell the story.

Biological fear is instinctual – but non biological fear is not instinctual. So firstly we have to sort these two out. Fear as an instinct is that inner warning bell – or shiver – which tells us that we are probably or actually – in danger. It needs heeding.

But fear also comes as something superimposed. A form of indoctrination which renders us fearful about things which we have no business being fearful about. And it is this type of fear that we need to get a grip on – and ultimately reject completely.

Proof Positive: Our Thoughts, Emotions Affect Our Physiological Health

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Mon, 12/01/2014 - 10:38

We have known that cognitive bias (where we live, if we are a man or woman, our cultural and religious leanings etc.) colors how we interact with the world since Plato, but scientists are now continuously finding that emotions may have more to do with our physical health than anything else.

HOW THOUGHTS, EMOTIONAL HEALTH AFFECTS PHYSICAL HEALTH

Did you know, for example, that the heart speeds up without any physical activity when we are stressed out? This can lead to heart attack and a higher overall resting heart rate, which could lead to earlier death.

Furthermore, it isn’t just the foods you eat that can lead to elevated levels of ‘bad’ cholesterol. If you have a positive, upbeat outlook, you will more than likely experience lowered cholesterol levels and better heart health.

3 Children Whose Stories Support The Case For Reincarnation

Past-life recognition in children is being studied extensively by various scientists and psychiatrists around the world to prove the survival of consciousness beyond the physical realm.

Reincarnation research was advanced by Dr. Ian Stevenson in the 1960’s, who interviewed thousands of people who had recollections of past lives. Dr. Stevenson discovered that recollection of past lives by children was much more common than many expected and he developed categories to help screen for cases worthy of further study. Dr. Jim B. Tucker, colleague of the late Dr. Stevenson and an associate psychiatry professor at the University of Virgina Medical Center’s Division of Perceptual Studies, has compiled over 2500 case studies of reincarnation, which document young children recollecting their previous lives.

While scientists, psychologists and health care professionals have long known about the connection between exercise and well-being, a new study published in the September 25th edition of Cell has uncovered the mechanisms that may underlie this link. This study showed that having strong, toned muscles can make people more resistant to stress and help filter a depression-causing toxin away from the brain.

When we exercise hard, our muscles produce a compound known as PGC-1α1, which is known to have positive effects on the body, such as stimulating the production of blood vessels. In this study, researchers genetically altered the amount PGC-1α1 in the skeletal systems of lab mice...

In her article, “Master of Love” author Emily Smith states that of all the couples that get married, only 3 in 10 remain in healthy, happy marriages, as psychologist Ty Tashiro points out in his book “The Science of Happily Ever After.”

Every day in June, the most popular wedding month of the year, about 13,000 American couples will say “I do,” committing to a lifelong relationship that will be full of friendship, joy and love that will carry them forward to their final days on this earth.

Night sky guide for December 2014

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Mon, 12/01/2014 - 08:34

The first half of December provides some of the best meteor activity of the year, however, the bright moon will block out all but the brightest meteors. Geminids, the king of the meteor showers, peak on December 13. They will be blocked out by waning gibbous moon to some degree but the Geminids are so bright and numerous that it should still be a good show.

December Solstice will occur at 23:03 UTC on December 21. This will be the first day of winter (winter solstice) in the Northern Hemisphere and the first day of summer (summer solstice) in the Southern Hemisphere.

Two days later, sky watchers can observe Ursid meteor shower. Ursids are minor meteor shower producing only about 5 - 10 meteors per hour, however, 2014 is one of the best years to observe them as there will be no moonlight to interfere.

  • December 6 - Full Moon - 12:27 UTC. This full moon was known by early Native American tribes as the Full Cold Moon because this is the time of year when the cold winter air settles in and the nights become long and dark. This moon has also been known as the Moon Before Yule and the Full Long Nights Moon....

M1.8 solar flare erupts from central region 2222

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Mon, 12/01/2014 - 08:34

A moderately strong solar flare measuring M1.8 at its peak time erupted at 06:41 UTC on December 1, 2014. The event started at 06:26 and ended at 06:59 UTC.

A 10cm Radio Burst lasting 6 minutes (peak flux 180 sfu) was associated with the event. This indicates that the electromagnetic burst associated with a solar flare at the 10cm wavelength was double or greater than the initial 10cm radio background. This can be indicative of significant radio noise in association with a solar flare. This noise is generally short-lived but can cause interference for sensitive receivers including radar, GPS, and satellite communications.

Region 2222, the source of today's M1.8 solar flare, has 'beta-gamma' magnetic configuration, it is located almost at the center of the disk and is capable of producing strong eruptions on the Sun. It's position is favorable for Earth-directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) and will remain like that in the coming days. More information about this event will be posted after the analysis is complete.

Cardiovascular Disease Linked to Vitamin Deficiency & High Homocysteine Levels

Submitted by Galactic Free Press on Mon, 12/01/2014 - 08:32

By Dr. Michelle Kmiec

Contributing Writer for Wake Up World

There is a new buzz word regarding a possible predictor of a stroke, coronary heart disease or peripheral vascular disease, and that word is homocysteine; a non-protein α-amino acid derivative from the amino acid cysteine. Many epidemiological studies have shown that too much homocysteine in the blood (specifically the plasma portion) is related to a higher risk of cardiovascular events and atherosclerosis, the plaquing of the arteries.

So how does one collect so much homocysteine in the blood that it can result in such serious health risks?

The answer is simple: diet, lifestyle factors and chronic stress.
